Skills Night-Tamihi Rapids April 5-6, 2019

The second skills night of the year once again saw about 25 people brave the questionable weather to experience Skills Night. Students spent the night practicing outdoor skills such as setting up tents, fire-starting, water treatment, and cooking over burners. Highlights of the trip included Karl learning that large totes and hiking don’t mix, telling ghost stories around the campfire, and Mr. Jenks teaching the class how peculiar smells can be used to track people in the wilderness. Comm Rec Extreme students (and anyone else who wants to) leave a 100 word response below.

On this amazing one night trip to the tamahi camp group with such an amazing group of people i learned things I already knew, like how to set up a tent, make food, pack a backpack (without help from a spouse) and how to stay warm and dry from the rain. This trip was verryyyyy valuable experience and I would totally do it again. Made new friends and got soaking wet, my idea of a great time!
