The first ski/snowboard trip of the season saw Extreme Outdoor Education students finally get on the mountain in December for the first time in Mr. Rahe’s career. While the temperature was a little warmer than desirable, the strong early season snowpack resulted in good Spring riding conditions. Highlights included Hobbs equipment falling apart on his first run, and the epic hunt for Keira’s cell phone in deep powder, which thankfully ended happily ever after. The sparsely populated mountain resulted in lots of opportunities to find untouched powder, and everyone left happy and healthy and already looking forward to their next trip. The trip was super fun overall! Our first run was good but the second run is where things fell apart. We went on a double black powder run and we all rolled down the first part. We slowly made our way down the run but than hit a huge bump and Jordan and I went flying. When I reached to grab my phone to take a photo of us in the deep snow, I realized that it was missing! We searched for so long and I started to lose hope but I often lose my phone so I had hopes that we would still find it. After an hour of searching and with the help of so many people, we finally heard the sound of find my iPhone and we found it! After lunch, We did many more runs which were all super fun! Overall, was a good experience and it was lots of fun but one thing I will take away is to always keep my phone in my ZIPPED UP pocket!
Not good that you lose your phone a lot… I’m glad you found it and I hope on future trips that isn’t the highlight of your trip. Haha!
I had never been to Sasquatch mountain before so I didn’t really know what to expect. For the first half of my day, I honestly had no idea where I was going but, thankfully, every run brings you back to the same three chairs. On my second run, I took a turn and went down a really powdery steep not-actually-a-run run. My friend and I both wiped out several times on our way down and once we got about 75ft down she realized that she had lost her phone. We eventually found it but only after 45 minutes of searching and climbing up the whole mini-mountain we had just come down. Other than that minor mishap (and the late bus), it was a good day of skiing.

This ski trip was my first time going skiing this season and I think it was my friends’ first time as well. It would be my warm-up day. I spent the start of the day remembering how to ski on the yellow before going to the green chair and having some fun on the longer runs with my friends. Towards the end of the day I handed my rented skis in, one of my friends did an extra run, the rain really started to come down at this time and I was glad I did not do this last run because my friend came back drenched. The bus was set to arrive around 4:30 but it ended up arriving more around 6:00 this was an interesting waiting period as no one knew what to do. After waiting we got on the bus and started the bumpy ride home.
Always unpredictable on these mountain trips it seems. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself and got comfortable on the runs again.
When I first went up I wasn’t confident in my skills at snowboarding at all. Barely being able to go down green hills. But by the end it the day despite going snowboarding for 3-4 years and about twice a year. It was the trips to Sasquatch mountain where I felt like I’ve really improved at snowboarding eventually being able to confidently and comfortably go down most green hills. My goal for future trips is blue and onwards. Watching my friends fall on their butts or drown in powder was funny and made the overall experience much more memorable. Only downside to the trip was waiting for the bus at the end of the day. Every trip is really fun and looking forward to the future ones!

This ski trip was fun and was my first time snowboarding this season. It never got boring as there were a bunch of funny events, like people losing there ski’s multiple times and someone lost there phone. There was also not a whole lot people there that day so the amount of runs we got in was plentiful and there was no time wasted standing in line. I just wish that the weather could’ve been a little nicer as it ended up raining as it got later in the day. Also if we were able to get a bus that could pick us up on time.
Sometimes you got to make a little sacrifice (waiting for the bus) to enjoy a day on the mountain 🙂
My first ski trip of the season went pretty well. It wasn’t super eventful for me or my friends but we still had fun. The weather was meh but got more rainy later in the day. The snow wasn’t too bad either. However, the bus was very delayed picking us up, and we had to wait for over an hour. Filling that time was kind of boring but the bus did eventually come. The ride home was very bumpy and dark, which was interesting. Unfortunately, the bus didn’t do any barrel rolls or flips off a cliff so nothing else interesting to report there either…
I’d be a little worried if the bus were boarding down the mountain…
First ski trip of the season. And with me being so used to skiing at mt baker The snow was definitely way better than expected for it being one of the lower mountains. Even though it was sticky on a few runs it was still really fun. Everyone who came was super nice as well. This was my very first ski trip with a school and even though I had no friends at the start I managed to make a few. But this is definitely the best course at school so far! Thanks for such a great experience! Whoot whoot.

my first ski trip of the season, i hadnt been in a while so it took me a bit to warm up i think the lesson helped me feel more comfortable even if i wasnt originally planning on having a private lesson. the weather was really nice and it wasnt at all as rainy as i had thought it would be. it got a little icier in the end but still not too bad. i really enjoyed hanging out with my friends instead of being in school. oh also i loved waiting in the freezing cold for the super late bus that was definitely a highlight. overall it was a really good trip and ill definitely go on more in the future.

This was one of my favourite ski trips so far. The hill was great and there was lots of powder. I really enjoyed it. It was also a great day, the sun was out , I was a little unprepared for this trip, some of my ski gear was too small. But overall no complaints.
Any time you can get out on the mountain in December is a win in my books!
