Overnight Ski/Snowboard Trip-Manning Park March 3-5, 2023

For the second time in Mr. Rahe’s tenure with the outdoor education program, and the first time since the onset of Covid, the Mouat Outdoor Education program once again ventured to do a multi-day ski/snowboard trip to a local mountain. On Friday a combination of 30 Mouat and District International students hopped on a charter destined for Manning Park Resort. After dropping off their overnight bags and food at the lodge the group travelled up the mountain to find what were some of the best riding conditions of the season. The overnight 10cm dump led to a plethora of powder on the mountain and the group relished the opportunity to carve it up in mild temperatures. The evening brought with it swimming, saunas, hot tubs, and games as the group split their time between their cabins and the many amenities that Manning Park Resort has to offer. While the second day did not bring more snow the groomed conditions and good weather were once again welcomed by the group. I myself learnt that while it is much easier snowboarding with two good eyes I was able to manage with only one and joined in on the festivities. Memories were made, laughter was shared, and some International students learned a little bit of responsibility along the way. They were also pretty thrilled that Fernando Alonso placed on the podium in the first F1 race of the season! Overall the small hiccups were manageable and the first overnight trip in years was a success! Outdoor Education students (and anyone else who wants to) please leave a 100 word blog response below.
