Paintballing-Millionaire Paintball October 6, 27 2020

Some use brushes, some rollers, but in Outdoor Education we create our art with paintball guns! The first trip on October 6th saw 25 students take part, while the second trip on October 27 saw 16 students descend on Millionaire Paintball in Abbotsford to experience the thrilling sport of paintball. Some left with victories, some left with bruises, but all left with lasting memories. Mr. Rahe is just getting over the welts that were inflicted on him by opponents and teammates alike… Extreme Outdoor Education students (and anyone else who wants to) leave a 100 word response below.

I really enjoyed this trip, I learned that it’s very much a team sport, if you only focus on shooting other people and not getting shot you most likely won’t last as long as you would if you worked with the rest of your team. i also learned that it hurts to get shot from a couple feet away
The only thing I wish we had done differently is not keeping as many people back and moving more forward or around the back and sides. i think i had prepared for it pretty well, i wore clothes i didn’t really care about and made sure to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt, i also brought extra money for buying more paintballs so i feel i was pretty well prepared overall.

I learned a lot while going paintballing, like different strategies and different ways of having the upper hand on the opposing team. I also learned that you had to run a lot and be very quiet so the other team doesn’t hear you, these things were key to winning the game. I learned that I was pretty good at aiming and ended up hitting a lot of people during the games. I wish we had more ammo and also the teams were switched around every round because I felt like the teams were a little unfair. To prepare for this trip next time I would bring more water, less clothing because it got really sweaty and I would also conserve my ammo throughout the rounds so it lasts longer.

The paint balling trip was an experience on its own. It was very fun and entertaining. It’s best to go on a nice sunny day because this location is outdoors. A lesson that I learned was that only start shooting at someone when you know they are not from your team. Do not waste your bullets so fast and try to aim to target. Remember to wear clothes that will protect you from the paintballs because they will hurt when they hit you. The most part it will hurt from my experience was that it hurts the shoulders, hands, wrists, and ankles.

The Paintball Trip with Mr. Rahe was a great experience for me and my friends. At first I was very scared to get hit by the paintball because people had told me it hurts a lot but, when I got hit it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. This could be since I had worn multiple layers of clothing underneath. When I was out on the playing field it felt like I was going to war which was a exhilarating experience and this lead me to respecting military soldiers more because it would be much more scary with real guns. Overall I can say Paintball was a great experience that I would recommend for everyone to do at least once in their life.

Paintballing was a super fun experience for me and I think it opened up many new opportunities because it was very scary. It gave me a good adrenaline rush and it was super fun! I think it was really cool and I really like this course because I’m meeting a lot of new people and having a lot more fun! It’s also a super good opportunity for me to get outside!

Paintballing was quite the experience; it was a lot more aggressive than when I played it with my father and cousin. I learnt once again that, although I do okay in shooter games, I still can’t aim well for the life of me in a real situation. If I could have a redo of this, I’d adapt the main principle of “shoot first, apologize later”; as if I did, then I wouldn’t have gotten the welt that’s left a permanent faint mark on my thigh. If I were to redo this, i would’ve brought more money to rent more protection, and would’ve worn better clothes for mobility. All in all, it was an interesting experience.

Today we went to Millionaire Paintball. I had an amazing time and we really got to work on our teamwork and team building skills. You would have to work as a team to take out the enemy team or defend objective points. You were separated into 2 teams that face off against each other. You had to rely on your teammates to watch your back when you were advancing and defending. Teamwork is a great skill to have and develop, it is used in many circumstances and is crucial if you are to get lost with other people. You need to be able to trust and rely on your teammates in the game as well as in a real life crisis.

Paintball was great! The bus ride was disappointingly quiet, but all the sound sure came out once we were off the bus and into the field. I played a good four rounds, and then realized 100 paintballs goes by quick. I forgot about the $10 for 100 paintballs rule and didn’t bring any extra pocket cash. Still, on pure andrenaline alone, I managed to shoot 3 people, (only 2 popped) and only get shot twice, with only one popping. Feelings were mixed during it. It seems fun until someone else is shooting back, then it turns to excitement and panic. All I am trying to say is that it was worth it, and it was fun.

My first time paintballing was definitely an interesting one. It’s a lot more stressful than video games. that’s for sure… It felt kind of overwhelming at times because there’s a lot to keep track of, between aiming, moving, tracking people, etc. There were also the people who were really good, who kind of destroyed everyone else. Definitely a lot for your first time. However, it was a lot of fun. I can see why a lot of people don’t like it, but I personally liked it a lot despite being really bad… I would definitely go again, whether by myself or with the class.

My second time paintballing was also really fun. I feel like I improved maybe a little bit (?) but I was still pretty terrible. I felt more comfortable with the gun and the area so that definitely helped. The teams were smaller this time which made it more fun, in my opinion but made it feel empty once people started to stop playing. My team did try to make some strategies but it didn’t end up happening once all the chaos began and everyone forgot about it. However, it was still really fun and I would gladly do it again!

We had gone to paintball and while playing I gained a new respect for military soldiers and what they go through fighting for their lives. While we got to sit out and come back in when they get shot they don’t get to comeback and it is very stressful especially when you see your friend get shot in front of you but it was good hearing kabir scream

    1. Jot Toor

I realized I did this wrong So here it is again
I learned that throughout this experience it was better that I stayed with my friends so we could work together and win. I learned that I like shooting people with paintballs and have quite good aim. I was able to work through the Bullet drop of the shots and still connect majority of the time with my paintballs.I wish that next time.We would play in a bigger area. Here it was too small and you could see everything going on. But in a bigger setting it would make it far more realistic. Something I would do differently is bring water. It gets really warm under those masks and the sweat dripping can fog up your goggles. So it was harder to see but water would’ve cooled me down and made it less foggy.

I’ve gone on both of the paint balling trips and very much enjoyed both of them, i knew teamwork was important but the first time we my team would discuss a plan then end up changing a lot of stuff and not following the plan, the second time instead of making a big plan in the beginning we figured it out as we went based on what was happening and we worked a lot better as a team. I learned that you cant just focus on getting closet to/getting the flag before the other team, you need to first shoot the people that could potentially shoot you first. the only thing i wish had gone differently was a lot of people dropped out after a couple rounds which made it not as fun. overall really enjoyed both paint balling trips.

  12. Amrit Grewal

This was my first time going paint balling and it was a memorable time. I play a lot of video games that closely resemble this and I used some of the video game strategies into real life which was great. This helped me with figuring out strategies and working as a team to win the fight and how to stay calm while getting shot it. The paintballs did not hurt as much as I thought but it was all in all a great experience and would definitely go again!

  13. Kabir Dhothar

I learned alot going paintballing like you have to have your barrel cover on in the main area and
To always stay with your team mats because you might get ambushed. And i learned that you should not buy paintballs from there because there a rip off just bring your own I realized that if you get shot with a paintball you’re still gonna survive and if you get shot in real life you die props to the army

That paintball trip was quite interesting to see go by as everyone was seeming to have so much fun that everyone seemed to have a blast. All the kids seemed to be covered at last. I seemed to get covered at last. Most paintball trips I am the one who seems to not be able to say that but today like the odd few I can say that I have been but ultimately that is perfectly ok as it is not about how bad or good you end up doing but whether you had fun at least. I can certainly say that I had a blast. Like it once said “Whatever you decide to do make sure it makes you happy”.

  15. Conner Pow

Paintballing was really fun, I had a blast on the trip and I haven’t been in a while. Even though I got a couple bruises on me, it was still fun. What I learned on the trip was not to waste much ammo because the past couple times I went I would shoot too many bullets into the open for fun and I would ran out of ammo very quickly. So I learned not to shoot so many all at once so I save money. One thing I learned about myself on the trip was you need to have lots of energy inside, I think so because you do so many rounds of the paintballing, so you have to be aware of your surroundings where your team is and where your opponents are. The more rounds you do, the more you will become tired, sometimes you need to run so you don’t get shot or out of that round. I think for one thing I wish that had gone differently is if it didn’t rain that day because it would of made running on the field a lot easier, and it would of made the weather not as cold as it was to play in it. So that way it would be a little warmer without the rain when we went. I think for me personally, I wish I weared and brought gloves because my hands were cold when I was firing and when I was holding the gun. They were extra cold too because of the rain that came falling down.

I hadn’t been paintballing since I was a lot younger, and I remember the excitement and adrenaline I felt jumping over barriers and shooting paintballs at my enemies! After a good couple years, I still felt that same excitement when we went again this year! I think the main thing I learned from this field trip was how overthinking and planning doesn’t always work in real life scenarios. For my first couple deathmatch games, I tried to plan my routes and my strategies to survive as long as possible, but both of those rounds I was out fairly early because I focused too much on following my plan and in the paintball battlefield (and real life) things don’t always go the way you plan it to. I did a lot better when I just focused on reacting to my situations and using my intuition and common sense to survive. That and looking for Mr.Rahe hiding in the bushes! I really enjoyed this trip and would love to do it again!

  17. Zachary Hobbs

On this amazing trip I learned that I am a lot better than Mr. Rahe at paintball.I also learn that I have great battle strategies.I found out that I’m a very competitive person. Honestly it was one of the best trips I have gone on with Mr. Rahe but I do wish more people in my grade that went also if my goggles were not so foggy it would a been a better experience.Overall it was a good time especially because I got to shoot Mr.Rahe

  18. Zachary Hobbs

The second trip went quite differently than the first one because they ganged up on me every round. The most memorable thing about this trip is when Mr. Rahe,Sam and I were against everyone and we won.I wish that I wasn’t getting ganged up on me and the teams were more fair at the beginning. The reason why I like paintball so much is because its just like hockey in a sense cause it gets my adrenaline pumping also because it’s hard to get together with your friends during these times and this allowed my to play paintball with friends

  19. Caiomyn Fitzgerald

I went on the first paintballing trip. I had an amazing time for it being my first time and we really got to work on our teamwork and team-building skills. You would have to work as a team to take out the enemy team, we were separated into 2 teams. When the rounds started I had to rely on my teammates to watch my back at all times. Teamwork is a great skill to have and improve on, it is used in almost everything you do every day. Overall it was a great first experience and I would gladly do it again if I got the chance to. I also learned that most people love shooting you when they’re close.

  20. Seajay Kendall

The first paintball trip was my first time paint balling. I really enjoyed myself, although at the beginning I was nervous to play, and I realized that I would make a plan before starting the game. I learned that teamwork is one of the most important thing when paint balling. I noticed that when we were playing I had lots of adrenaline and that you have to keep track of everyone. I wish that we would have used more teamwork. If I ever go back I would probably try to work harder and try to hit more people then I did.

  21. Taranveer Dhailwal

I enjoyed it a lot and had a good time playing paintball. It was hard to hit the people with the paint balls because they were small, however once you got your eye in it was exceedingly easy. It was also quite fun when you were winning. This was my first time going paint balling even though I have done similar things to this. I think this was good experience for me overall and i would do it again. To conduced i think paint balling is a good and entertaining game to play on a gym field trip and would do it again

  22. Rajkaran

The paint balling trip was an very exciting and fun trip and it was my first time and it was a new and good memory. I have played lots of video games that resemble playing paintball. I got hit in the head and didn’t even know where it came from, and with just that I had new respect for the people that fight for our country and others because they are in a great risk of losing there life. I learned that the drop off of the paintball and the curve of it was very different in real life then it seemed to me. despite that I was able to hit a lot of my shots. Also using some of the things I learned from video games helped me. I wish that the teams would be swapped each rounds because they were a little unfair. Overall this was an great trip and an experience and I would happily go again.

This was my first time going paintballing and if I’m being honest I was scared I was gonna get hurt, but I didn’t. I learned that It’s way more fun if I actually go into the field and shoot at people instead of just hiding around. If I could do anything differently I would probably not hide the whole time and just get myself out there. I learned that If I really tried my best that I have pretty good aim. On the first trip I hid a lot but near the end I was all over the place shooting and it was a Loy of fun. If I could do this trip any differently I would probably bring more money because you get rid of paintballs very quick and easily. Overall I thought this was a very fun experience and I would love to go with the group again!

On this trip we went to millionaire paintball and it was my second time going. This time I didn’t end up purchasing gear because I wanted to see if it would hurt to get hit. I was very scared throughout the trip because I got hit and it HURT. I learnt that it’s always good to have gear and protection even if you don’t think you should, better safe than sorry. I got to spend time with people I don’t usually hangout with and it was really exhilarating. I was very nervous going in but afterwards I had fun because it got my adrenaline rushing.

  25. Sarah Wooffinden

october 6th we went paintballing and it was really fun but i was terrified i was so scared of getting hit. i learnt about how important it is to buy the armer gear stuff so that it doesn’t hurt and that it’s important to stay far away when your getting shot. i learnt so much about my self on this trip and how i build thing up to be more scary than they are and onc eu got hit i actually started having fun. i wish that i hadn’t been so scared at the beginning because it was so fun and i wasted time worrying other than that i was pretty prepared but i shouldve brought water.

  26. Sam Pratt

What I learned on the paint balling trip is that you shouldn’t be scared to get shot, because most likely the other players are scared too and so if you push for the flag and be aggressive the other players will be scared to peak their head out, giving you the advantage.
What I learned about myself is that my communication on the “battlefield” is a lot better than I imagined because of video game call-outs and sports communication.
Something I wished had gone differently when i was paint balling was just directing some of the less experienced teammates a little better. maybe giving them some advice on where people are going to go and where to hide, I think it would’ve given my team a little better chance.
To prepare differently for this trip next time I would definitely bring gloves. Just to give me more reassurance that I wouldn’t get shot in the hands and maybe I would have peeked a little better if I had them. Another thing I would have brought is more money because I always underestimate the amount of paint balls that I’m gonna use out there so I think money would have helped my problem. I could’ve bought some armored gloves and that would solve another problem.

  27. Levi

Going paint balling with a lot of my friends was a lot of fun and it was also very exciting. I learned that paint balling is a lot easier if you work as a team or work with other people rather than trying to work by yourself. If you work by yourself you’ll most likely get hit and get out of the game and frankly, it’s more fun to play in the game rather than to sit out and wait for the game to end. I learned about myself is that I should’ve communication in the game is very similar to communication while playing video games such as call of duty. If you don’t communicate well with your team then things will not turn out the best. Next time I will be more prepared and bring more money because I quickly ran out of paintballs and I wanted to get more. Also, next time I’ll bring food and water because you work up quite an appetite when paint balling.
